When Dr. Ruth Plummer lost her mother at just ten years old, her life changed forever. Raised by her aunt and faced with hardship early on, she learned resilience through faith and family — lessons that would shape her life’s purpose.

By age 13, Ruth became a mother herself. By 24, she had seven children. Yet through every challenge, she held on to her belief that with God’s help, anything was possible. “We can be the women we’re meant to be,” she says. “We don’t have to give up.”

Now the author of The Necessary Woman, Dr. Plummer is a pastor’s wife, mother of seven, grandmother of 23, and great-grandmother of 32. She’s also a certified domestic abuse advocate and the chairwoman of the Black Women’s Roundtable in Daytona Beach, where she works to uplift both women and men in her community.

Her story — and her marriage to her husband Eugene, with whom she reunited after 20 years apart — is a testament to faith, perseverance, and love. Together, they’ve built a ministry and a legacy of hope.

Dr. Ruth Plummer’s life reminds us that even when loss comes early, God can turn pain into purpose — and every necessary woman has the power to rise again.
